Day 1 : Arrive Durban Airport -- Transfer to ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge -- Overnight ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge, South Africa

Arrive Durban International Airport where we will meet you and transfer you to ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge, situated in the small diving town of Umkomaas about 80km south of the Durban International Airport. When you arrive at the dive lodge, you will be checked into your room, meet the team and spend the day relaxing on the beach or around the pool. In the late afternoon we will give you a briefing about the diving at the shark diving at the Aliwal Shoal as well as information about your diving in Mozambique. Day 2 : 2 x Shark Dives Aliwal Shoal -- Overnight ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge, South Africa

We generally meet at 7am for breakfast before moving down to the dive centre to kit-up and prepare for the diving.

The first dive today will give you a chance to check your gear and get your weighting comfortable and will take place somewhere shallow on the reef. The second dive will be the start of the shark action. Our shark dives takes place on the reefs of the Aliwal Shoal in South Africa. The reefs are rated as some of the best in the world for shark diving and we aim to show you as many species of shark as possible including Tiger Sharks, Ragged Tooth Sharks, Oceanic Blacktip Sharks, Bull Sharks, Hammerhead Sharks, Guitar Sharks & Whitetip Reef Sharks.

After the diving we return to the dive lodge where there are hot showers and a secure wet-room to store your gear, ready for the next days shark diving. In the afternoons if the conditions allow we offer extra diving or you can enjoy the afternoon relaxing at the lodge, walk on the beach or visiting local attractions. Day 3 : 2 x Shark Dives Aliwal Shoal -- Overnight ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge, South Africa

Meet at 7am for breakfast before moving down to the dive centre to kit-up and prepare for the diving. The diving starts with a launch from the Umkomaas river or beach depending on the tide. Enjoy two more Shark Diving looking for the different shark species. In the afternoons if the conditions allow we can do extra dive.

After the diving, relax at the lodge, walk on the beach or visiting local attractions. In the evening enjoy dinner at the lodge or at one of the local restaurants. Overnight ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge, South Africa.


Day 4 : 2 x Shark Dives Aliwal Shoal -- Overnight ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge, South Africa

After breakfast we launch and go out to the reefs of the Aliwal Shoal. Each day we dive different dive sites that are only select once we get out to sea and get a chance to check the conditions so we know where the best days shark diving will be. In the afternoons if the conditions allow we can do extra shark dives.

After the diving, relax at the lodge, walk on the beach or visiting local attractions. In the evening enjoy dinner at the lodge or at one of the local restaurants. Overnight ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge, South Africa.


Day 5 : 1 x Shark Dive & 1 baited Tiger Shark Dive Aliwal Shoal -- Overnight ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge, South Africa

Today is our final day of diving the Aliwal Shoal and our main aim is to dive with Tiger Sharks. The diving takes place on the southern end of the Aliwal Shoal. We create an odour corridor to attract the Tiger Sharks and once the sharks arrive we enter the water to observe the sharks in their natural enviroment - a truly amazing experience!

After the diving, relax at the lodge, reflect on the days of shark diving at the Aliwal Shoal and look forward to what lies ahead, diving with Whale Sharks & Manta Rays at Tofo Beach in Mozambique. In the evening enjoy dinner at the lodge. Overnight ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge, South Africa.

Day 6 : Depart ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge -- Transfer into Mozambique [via Swaziland] -- Overnight Casa Lisa, Mozambique

In the morning enjoy breakfast at ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge before we head north towards Mozambique. Our journey takes us through Zululand and into Swaziland where we will stop for lunch and take in some of the local sights. After lunch we continue into Mozambique where we will overnight just north of Maputo at Casa Lisa Lodge. Casa Lisa has an amazing restaurant and bar area which provides an awesome welcome to Mozambique. The accommodation is in traditional Mozambique casitas with private en-suite facilities. Day 7 : Transfer to Tofo Beach -- 1 x dive Tofo Beach -- Overnight Tofo Beach, Inhambane, Mozambique

An early rise and we transfer north taking in some of the fantastic local sights of Mozambique enroute to Tofo Beach in Inhambane Province. On the way we stop at various look-outs where you get to see the awesome coastline of Mozambique.

When we arrive in Tofo Beach, the boat will be waiting for us to kit-up before heading out on our first dive on the fantastic reefs of Tofo Beach. The dive will give us a chance to check out dive gear and get a taste of the diving, boat launching and adventure that the next few days will bring.

Our accommodation is in awesome beach front chalets with views overlooking the ocean with miles of golden sandy beaches and Tofino Bay which is the main area for the Whale Sharks. Today we enjoy 2-dives on the reefs of Barra Beach & Tofo Beach in Mozambique. The main aim of the diving are the Whale Sharks & Manta Rays and the huge diversity of life found on the reefs of Tofo Beach. In the evening we enjoy a meal at one of the fantastic restaurants in Tofo Beach. Overnight Casa John, Tofo Beach, Inhambane, Mozambique.


Day 9 : 2 x dives at Tofo Beach -- Overnight Tofo Beach, Inhambane, Mozambique

Today we enjoy 2-dives on the reefs of Barra Beach & Tofo Beach in Mozambique. The main aim of the diving are the Whale Sharks & Manta Rays and the huge diversity of life found on the reefs of Tofo Beach. Day 12 : Depart Mozambique -- Transfer back into South Africa -- Overnight ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge, South Africa

In the morning enjoy breakfast at Casa Lisa Lodge before we head south towards South Africa. Our journey takes us back through Swaziland and into Zululand, South Africa where we will stop for lunch and to take in some of the local sights. After lunch we continue to ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge where you can spend the afternoon relaxing on the beach or at the pool, reflecting on diving with Sharks, Whale Sharks and Manta Rays in South Africa & Mozambique. In the evening enjoy dinner at the lodge or at one of the local restaurants. Overnight ScubaAddicts Dive Lodge, South Africa.

Day 13 : Airport Transfers to Durban International Airport or extend your stay.

    Tiger Sharks grow up to about 6-metres, the average size is about 3-metres. Our Tiger Shark diving takes place on the reefs to the south of the Aliwal Shoal and will rate as one of the top-5 dives you will ever do - awesome!

    The Oceanic Blacktip Sharks are generally found to the south of the Aliwal Shoal. The dive starts with us dropping in on one of the dive sites on the Aliwal Shoal. We use baitless methods to attract the Oceanic Blacktip Sharks.

    Our Ragged Tooth Shark dives take place on the Aliwal Shoal and the reefs to the south of the Aliwal Shoal. The main dive sites are Cathedral, Chunnel & Raggies Cave however the sharks can be found all over the Aliwal Shoal.

    Our Bull Shark dives takes place mainly on the reefs to the north & south of the Aliwal Shoal. Bull sharks are also seen during our Tiger Shark dive and when we dive the wrecks at the Aliwal Shoal.

    The Dusky Sharks are found to the south of the Aliwal Shoal during May to November. The sharks are great to dive with and they behave very similar to the Blacktip Sharks. Dusky Sharks are also seen during the Tiger Shark Dive.

    Our Hammerhead Shark dives take place off-shore from the Aliwal Shoal. The dives are mid-water drifts and while we do have sightings of Hammerheads during most the year, our best time is during our summer months.

    Guitar Sharks are found on the sandy patches on the north and south of the Aliwal Shoal and mainly during our summer months. The are generally very calm and you can get up close allowing for some great viewing and photos.

    White-tip Reef Sharks are seen on many of the reefs, we generally find them lying under caves and in the potholes relaxing during the day so they can hunt the reefs at night.

    Whale Sharks are a main attraction when diving Tofo Beach in Mozambique although we do sometimes also see them at the Aliwal Shoal in South Africa.

    Manta Rays are around all year on the reefs of Tofo Beach and we focus on diving the Manta Ray cleaning stations getting up-close and personal with these awesome creatures, some of them are huge with up to a 5-metre wingspan.

    Grey Reef Sharks

    Grey Reef Sharks can be seen on many of the reefs in Tofo including Manta Reef. The sharks are inquistive and can often be seen cruising the reefs following the schools of game fish.

    Leopard Sharks

    We generally see Leopard Sharks on the off-shore reefs of Office and Amazon, they are very shy but if approached slowly they won't swim away and they offer great photos opportunities.

    Potato Bass

    Potato Bass are found all over the reefs of Tofo Beach and the Aliwal Shoal. They are generally very friendly and will often approach divers which results in some awesome photos.

    Humpback Whales

    Between April and November the annual Humpback Whale migration passes the Aliwal Shoal & Tofo Beach. The whales can often be seen from the boat and during dives we often hear the whale song which is amazing.

    Bottlenose Dolphin
    Aliwal Shoal & Tofo Beach

    Bottlenose Dolphin can often be seen when travelling between the dive sites. The dolphin often approach the boat and sometimes they are comfortable and we get to swim with them.

    Spotted Eagle Rays

    Eagle Rays are often seen on most of the dive sites at Tofo Beach & the Aliwal Shoal. During the dives we often see them swimming across the reefs as well as in the blue water.

    Round Ribbon-tail Rays

    Round Ribbon-tail Rays can be seen on sandy patches on some of the dive sites at the Aliwal Shoal and Tofo Beach. They can be a large as 3-metres in diametre and sometimes we find them in large groups, relaxing in the current.

    Honeycomb Rays

    Honeycomb Rays are found on some of the reefs of Tofo Beach & the Aliwal Shoal, sometimes on the sandy patches or we see them swiming in mid-water. These Rays are huge and make for some fantastic photo opportunities.

    Devil Rays

    Devil Rays are often seen towards the end of the dives if we drift into deeper water on our safety stop. Generally we have small groups at the Aliwal Shoal and in Tofo they in large groups.

    Ragged Scorpion Fish

    Ragged Scorpion fish are found on the reefs and wrecks of the Aliwal Shoal as well as the reefs of Tofo Beach. While you don't want to touch them, they offer some fantastic photo opportunities.

    Turtles

    Turtles can be found all over the reefs of the Aliwal Shoal, Tofo Beach & Barra Beach, there are many species including Green Turtles, HawksbillTurtles and Loggerhead turtles and sometimes Leatherback Turtles.

    We have a huge variety of moral eels found on the reefs of Tofo Beach and the Aliwal shoal including huge Honeycomb Eels, Geometric eels and Black-cheek moray eels.

    Crayfish - East Coast Lobster

    East Coast Lobster are found all over the reefs of Tofo Beach & Aliwal Shoal. They hide in holes and are generally great for photography.

    Game & Reef Fish

    The Aliwal Shoal & Tofo Beach have a huge diversity of game and reef fish that can be seen during most dives. We are often lucky enough to have schools of barracuda, kingfish, cuda and even sometimes sailfish & marlin.


    Dive Gear

    Wetsuits : Most divers seem to favour 5-mm wetsuits year-round, if you feel the cold then gloves and a hoodie are a good idea. We do have shortie wetsuits that you can add to your wetsuit if you are cold.

    Cylinders : We use 12-liter steel cylinders which are available as A-clamp [international] or DIN so will suit all divers.

    Gear Hire : Dive gear is available for rent so you don't need to bring your own gear. Once we have your booking, you can just let us know what dive gear you will need.

    General Weather

    December to February : Generally very warm with rainfall. Sea conditions are calm in the morning becoming choppy & windy later.

    March to May : Generally warm with very little wind. Sea conditions are usually calm.

    June to August : Generally warm and dry. Sea conditions are generally calm.

    September to November : Generally warm, dry & sometimes windy. Sea conditions are calm in the morning becoming choppy & windy later.

    All the accommodation is in upmarket lodges which have ensuite facilities and are serviced daily. Breakfast is provided each day and lunches and dinners are either available at the lodges or at local restaurants & bars in each area.     Casa Lisa, Maputo, Mozambique

    Casa Lisa is our overnight stop between the Aliwal Shoal in South Africa & Tofo Beach in Mozambique. The lodge has a fantastic restaurant and bar area with a fantastic atmosphere.

    The chalets are available as single rooms [king size bed], twin rooms [2 x single beds] or double rooms [king size bed].

    All rooms have en-suite bathroom [with showers] & private balconies and are serviced daily.

    Casa John, Tofo Beach, Inhambane, Mozambique

    Casa John is situated in Tofo Beach in Tofino Bay. The lodge is fantastic and has some of the best views in the area overlooking the Indian Ocean. The lodges have en-suite facilities in all rooms, balconies that overlook some of the dive sites of Tofo and the area in-front of Casa John is the main diving area for Whale Sharks which can sometimes be seen from the lodge.

    Rooms are available as single [king size bed], twin [2 x single beds] or double [king size bed]. All rooms have en-suite bathroom [with showers], balconies and are serviced daily.

    We don't offer this package over the Christmas & New Year period as this is during local school holidays and there are to many divers in the water so we can't offer high quality diving. We are aware that this doesn't make good business sense as we could easily fill the package but we would rather you come dive here when you can experience good quality diving.
